Mountain Web Cameras
Web cameras have come a long way since a group of students at Cambridge University thought it would be a great idea to publish a picture of their coffee pot webcam on the Internet. There are now tens of thousands of web cameras across the globe providing shots of people, places and landscapes every hour of the day.
From a mountaineering perspective, the useful ones are those that are showing the current conditions in mountain areas, of which there are numerous in the UK. On this page we have pulled together a selection of the best ones available. If you know of any others that you think are worth adding then please contact us and we’ll add them to the list.
To make it easy to find the right camera, we’ve broken them down by geographical area, of which the following are available, to view the latest available shot, click on the relevant image.
England
Great Gable - Wasdale, Lake District

Being a regular hill walker in Snowdonia, only travel from Shropshire, your hill forcast is a regular check up on a dull
Friday nights T.V. viewing.
p.s. off to Appalachian Trail next week with the Adventure

I agree with Matt. A webcam of Pen Y Fan would be very useful, especially in the winter when the amount of snow coverage is quite important in deciding whether to start a walk or not.

Just wish the webcams at Cairngorm worked more than they didn’t.
Every time I look to see what the conditions are like there’s never
any picture.
